Star Spangled Banner Part Two

A continuation of yesterday. This was actually one of the first pieces I picked out on guitar. On my electric I would play it on the twelth fret and end in E.

I remember going camping with my dad early on when I was learning guitar. I could play this, the little riff from Guns and Roses Sweet Child O’ Mine and Pink Floyd’s Is There Anybody Out There. I had some guy say he would sing along but because of my limited vocabulary we weren’t able to make any music.

Wikipedia has a good article on our National Anthem which includes lyrics. Aren’t you glad I didn’t sing.

Star Spangled Banner Part One

“…ohh say can you see, my eyes if you can? Then my hairs too short!”

Wait that’s Hair, not the Star Spangled Banner. Well I assure you this video combines plenty of both. Tomorrow you’ll get the second half of course. When I first recorded it I thought it was rather dull, but I recently heard someone else’s recorded version on the net and mine was much better.

Of course, it’s nothing compared to Jimi.

Musicovery: Discover Something Different

Here’s an interesting new take on internet radio. With the little flash app at Musicovery you choose the ‘mood’ or ‘dance’ you’d like to hear by clicking on a rectangular matrix. It then plays a song according to your choice.

So I’m blogging this to Janis Joplin – Mercedes Benz which came up under calm. I was looking for something more instrumental but it’s been so long since I heard her beautiful voice.

It isn’t perfect. You may end up a bit frusterated clicking around and having it suddenly catch up to you. But overall it’s quite nice.

And for calm rock it picked Led Zeppelin – Black Mountinside. Ahhh…
